EDUCATION FUNDS EMBEZZLED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Wellington, this day. Another case of the wnbessiement of the funds of the Education Department has been before the courts. James Charles McGill Nutt. arrested in Sydney, was charged with stealing various sums amounting to £272. Last year he was clerk in the Accounts section of the special schools branch, and it was his duty to attend to all Hanking acounts and he had to withdraw or pay in money as the case might be. The accused told the police that the temptation had come on him "when hard pressed to provide a home for his wife and*family, and was more than he could withstand. Nutt pleaded guilty and was committed for sentence.
