PERSONAL.

Mr S. Craig left this morning to spend the week-end at Auckland.

The following visitors are staying at the Grand Hotel: Mr Thorburn (Pio Pio), Mrs Williams (Auckland), Mr Lacey (Auckland), Mr McEarlane. and Mr Rawson (Wellington).

Among the visitors to Te Kuiti staying at Kelvin House are. Mr G. R. Scott (Kopaki). Mr J. Gray (Kopaki), Mr Young (Mairoa), Mr Seabrook (Auckland), Mr McClure (Wellington).

Mr F. J. Gilford, who is shortly to succeed Mr Crowther at the Magistrate's Court bore, was formerly on the staff of the Wellington Magistrate's Court, and is now at Hamilton.

Mr John Curtis, who died at Auckland, was a resident of the province for upwards of sixty years. After trying his luck on the Thames goldfiehls, deceased was one of a party of pioneers who were instrumental in opening up North Auckland.

Mr George Aitchison. of Kaitangata, who recently consented to act as sole judge of Friesian cattle at the Poyal Agricultural Shows at Adelaide and Melbourne next month, has been requested by the Victorian branch of the Friesian Cattle Club of Australia to give a demonstration to members of the club during the forthcoming Melbourne show on the particular characteristics of the Friesian breed. The demonstration will be on similar lines to that given some time ago by Mr Aitchison at Stratford.

Mr S. N. Ziman, Auckland's first Rhodes scholar, whose engagement to .Miss Nellie Caster, daughter of Dr Caster, of London, was recently announced by cable, was employed on special work in connection with educational, hospital, and municipal administration for the Government of Bombay prior to his departure for London on short leave. Miss Caster is a graduate of Cambridge University, and her father is one of the leading physicians in London. As Mr Ziman was due back in India shortly, the marriage was to take place at an early date .
