PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.
ANNIVERSARY SERVICES. Special Church Anniversary Services were held in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church on Sunday, August 13. In the morning the Rev. H. R. Fell preached to a large congregation on the subject of "The Place of the Christian Church in the Community." At night there was a very large congregation, and the subject of the address was "The Christian Church—the Body of Christ." At the evening service special anthems were rendered by the choir, and solos were given by Mrs Hanchet and Messrs Bathgate and Mortimer. On Monday, August 14, the annual congregational meeting was held, the Rev. H. R. Fell presiding over a good attendance. Excellent reports were received from the various church organisations. Special mention was made of the splendid work done by the Ladies' and Girls' Guilds and by the "Busy Bees. The guilds had raised £l3O for church purposes, and the "Busy Bees" had presented to the church the fine bell that is heard every Sunday. The balance-sheet showed receipts £614 7s 2d and the year closed with a credit balance of £ll7 12s Id, which amount had been applied to reduction of the debt. The Sunday School report showed that good work had been done; the receipts for the year were £44 0s 6d. The following constitute the Deacon's Court for the ensuing year: Messrs W. J. Black, D. Leitch, M. Reid, D. Robb, H. J. Craig, A. R. Porteous, R. Ferguson, J. Bates, J. Jamieson, C. M. Bathgate (secretary) and A. M. Stewart (treasurer). After the meeting the ladies dispensed supper in the Church Hall, and a pleasant social hour was spent there.
