HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLE.
The following is the High Commissioner's latest cabled market report, dated London, May stb, quotations unless otherwise specified being average market prices on spot: —■
Meat. —Prices are now higher for home-killed mutton and English lambs, owing to small supply of all descriptions of frozen meat. Homekilled beef in fair supply. New Zealand mutton, per lb, B|d, ewe mutton BJd; Argentine mutton, small supplies, lOd; New Zealand lamb, lOd; Argentine lamb, lid; Patagonian, 13fd; North American lamb, 14Jd Argentine chilled beef, hinds ll|d; fores, lOd. Butter. —The market has a firmer tone. Danish butter 204s to 208s; New Zealand, salted 204s to 2065, unsalted 204s to 208s; Australian, salted 190s to 1945, unsalted 192s to 1965; Irish creamery, 190s to 1945; Argentine, salted 186s to 188s; unsalted 188s to 1925. Cheese. —Market continues firm. Canadian, white and coloured, 1625; States flats, 160s. Estimated Canadian and States cheese stocks, London, Liverpool, and Bristol, 23,000 boxes, against 74,000 at same time last year. New Zealand cheese, port of Liverpool official figures give stock as 6700 crates. Wheat.—Market firm, with more inquiry. Oats. —Market remains firm.
Dalgety and Company, Limited, report: — We had a fair yarding of cattle and a small yarding of sheep at the Palmeraton North yards on Thursday last. Quotations: —Fat cows £ll light forward cows <£7 14s, weaner heifers £3 13s, fat ewes 31s Bd, store lambs 20s, cull lambs 5s 3d
