20,000 ON ISONZO FRONT. MUNITIONS CAPTURED BY ITALIANS Rome, Thursday The Austrian losses on the battlefield stretching from Sangrado, four miles south of Gorz, to the sea, from September 13 to 18 are estimated at 20,000. * Great stores of ammunition and many cannon were captured during the artillery duels, and the hand-to-hand fighting which characterises the battle for Trieste An Austrian communique states: — "The defenders of the Carao highlands encountered during a four days' battle 20 infantry brigades, a cavalry division, and 15 Bersaglieri battalions. The enemy's attacks in the Val Sugana sector, in the Trentino, were repulsed with heavy losses."
