LONDON WOOL SALES,

EFFECT- OF EXPORT PROHIBITION. London, Tuesday. For the woul salws to-day there were 9996 bales catalogued, of which 4564 were New Zealand. A poor selection wbb offered, largely consisting of faulties and inferiors, which met with dragging sale. Few good merinos offered; and all sold at very full rates. Greasy crossbred were firm and unchanged. Crossbred lambs declined a penny, and all slipes declined a penny to three halfpence. It was announced that the exportation would be permitted of a limited quantity of crua?breda to the United Statea and the Allies. exporters were invited to apply to the Board of Trade for licensee. The trade considers tnis insufficient to warrant confident buying, and desires a more detailed announcement. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. have received the following cible from their London office. "Wool sales: Best sorts greasy, competition active, par to 5 per cent, higher; crossbred lambs, merino faulty, and slipe, 5 per cent, lower; Ame'rica operating. Tho Bank of NeW Zealand is in receipt of tho following cablegram from their London branch: —"London wool nnles opened vestai'day. Merinos, good, uncharged; croaa merinos, inferior, 5 per cent, cheaper; crudsbreds, good par to 5 per cent, cheaper croasbreds, others, firm; /slipe wool, 7& par cent, cheaper. ' , (hb _ ehss _ !^^
