DOMINION FARMERS' INSTITUTE.
A NATIONAL SCHEME. The prospectus of the Dominion Farmers' Institute, Limited, which has just been issued, provides for the establishment of an Institute at Wellington, which is intended as a connecting link between the various organisations working for the good of the farmers in the Dominion It is proposed to purchase property, and erect buildings thereon for the purpose of leasing portions thereof to the following organisations. Head office of the NZ. Farmers' Union; head office of the Farmers' Union Advocate; head office of the Farmers' Co-operative Wholesale Federation, now in course of formation; warehouse for the N.Z. Farmers' Co-operative Distributing Company, Ltd.; head office of Council of Agricultural and Pastoral Societies, and such other bodies as may be accepted by the directors; Conference balls and committee rooms; offices to let to specially approved tenants. It is further proposed to make provision for a Farmers' Club and a farmers' Private Hotel. The proposed directorate fof and the Provisional Dominion Council of the Institute includes the names of prominent farmers from both North and South Islands, the proposed chairman of directors being' Sir James G. Wilson. Among th"< names included in the Provisional Council are those of Major Lusk, Te Kuiti, and Mr Magill, president, uf the Auckland Provincial Council of the N.Z. Farmers' Union. The capital of the company is to be £50,000 in 10,000 shares of £5 each. Every farmer will doubtless be folly seized with the importance of the scheme and far-reaching (advantages which must accrue to the farming community of this Dominion by the concentration of interests in one institution —a monument to the great industry so cloßely associated with the destiny of this land.
