In the Assembly the appearance of (he early closing petition produced extraordinary counter demonstrations. Numerous counter petitions totalling 150,0fc'5 signatures in favour of noninterference were presented. Private member Brown submitted a motion in favour of early cloning. He knew there was no mandate from the people to curtail licensed hours, but the world had undergone a great chango since last elections. He pointed out, the restricted hours in other Status. On Mr Stuart Robinson's motion the debate was adjourned till September 7 th.
