The High Commissioner's market report, dated London, January 2nd, is as follows, the quotations specified being average market prices on spot:
Mutton.—There has been more in clination to purchase mutton during the past week, but the market has declined on account of the Increasing supplies. Canterbury, 6Jd; North Island, 5d to 7 l-6d. Lamb. —The market is' firm, with upward tendency. For better qualities" Canterbury two's; 6|d; other than Canterbury, 6fd. Beef.—The market is quiet. New Zealand hinds 6Jd, fores,. s£d. Chilled in moderate supply. Hinds 6d, fores 5Jd. Buttter. —The markot is firm, with good demand. Danish, quiet, 150s to 1543; New Zealand, good demand 136s to i3Bs, unsalted 138s to 140b; Australian, 134s to 13(is, unsalted 136s to 138s; Siberian, firm at 128s to 1325; Argentine, 14s to 16s. Cheese. —Market ib firm. Canadian rather quiet at 78s to 79s New -Zealand white and coloured, fairly steady at 75s to 76B r ,exceptionally;gpod 775.
