"NONE SO DEAF——"
With a tired expression, the hardworked doctor answered his surgery bell one evening. It was only Mike with a big story - as to how his baby would not sleep a wink, and would the medico give him something for her. Relived to think it was no bigger matter, the doctor dispatched Mike with some sleeping powders for the child. Next meeting the Irishman in the street, lie asked him how the powders worked. ' "Them powders did the trick foine, doc.," said Mike. "That's good! Made the baby sleep all right—eh?" "Faith', no!" responded. "We gave the darling a. dose, but she wouldn't sleep at all, at all; so we just took them powders bursals, we did, and we went right off to sleep, and nivir heard the swate baby cry one bit any more."
