THE AWAKINO COUNTY COUNCIL.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the Awakino County Council was held at Waitanguru on Saturday last. Present—Cra Leech, chairmar, Boddy, Thorns, Patterson, Old and Kelly. Correspondence wbb received from the Minister of Internal Affairs with reference to the alteration of the riding I'oundaries. Mr Massey wrot9 thankirg the Council for the invitation Bent to him to visit tfce district. The Minister of Public Works wrote stating that the question of forming a tri c\ to connect the settlers on the r.orth dile of the Awakino river with tha bridge was receiving his attenli in. The secretary of the Barkblocks' Association wrote .eminding the Council of the meeting to be held at Te K'iiti on June 4th to discuss prespr.t conditions controlling liq'jor in the King Country.—On the motion of Crs L«ech and Kelly, Cr Boddy was appointed to represent the Council. Correpson denes wes received in connection with the Waipawa loan. The following tendprs wore received for the supnly of 500 dog collars:—D. McMillan, Pio Pio, 7£d each; W. F. George, Waimate, £2 14s p?r 100 and £3 5 3 per 100; W. McNauaht and Son, Te Kuiti, 7d each. On the motion of Crs Kelly and Old it was resolved that McNaught and Son's tender of 7d per collar be accepted. On the motion of Cra Leech and Boddy it was resolved that a vote of thanks be sent to the inhabitants of Taumarunui through the late Mayor, Mr Wackrow, for the generous way in which they treated the delegates to tho conference of the Bankblocks' Association.
On the motion of Cr* Baddy and Old it was resolved that the Minister for Public Works ba asked to send the inspecting engineer to inspect work done by the Public Works Department on portion of the Te Kuiti-Awakino road west of the Mangaotaki bridge.
On the motion of Crs Patterson and Kelly it was resolved that the clerk apply for £ for £ subsidies in connection witti the Kiritehere and Waipawa special loans. The noxt meeting of the Council will be held at Waitanguru on Staurday, June Gtb.
