The farmers in some of the country districts are greatly disturbed by reports which have been published in the daily press that some of the creameries in the Waikato are likely to close down forthwith owing to shortage of fue! and owing to the cold storage being exhausted, thus making it impossible for the central factories to receive cream. Inquiry has been made of Mr H. E. Pacey, general manager of the New Zealand Dairy Association, Ltd., and he Btates there is absolutely no foundation for such report, but that the fuel supply and the storage capacity will enable his company to carry on for some weeks,, indeed probably uutil the strike has terminated. In reply to a further question, Mr Pacey said he believed most of the Waikato companies were in a similarly satisfactory position, and that certainly the storage difficulty was not an immediate danger to any of them.
