FINANCE AND LEASEHOLD.

QUESTION IN HOUSE. The important feature of finance l in connection with native leases haß been given prominence on many occasions in connection with this district and inability to borrow on such security from the Advances to Settlers Department has proved a drawback in many instances. The matter was made the subject of a question in Parliament last week wh.en Mr C. K. Wilson, member for the district, asked the Minister for Finance whether he would bring native leasee under the operation of the Advances to Settlers Act. The Hon. Mr Allen, Minister of Finance, replied, if the native leases referred to are those issued under the Native Land Act, 1909, part 16, the advisability of including them amongst the classes of land upon which loans may be authorised by the Advances Board is at present under consideration.
