TE KUITI DEBATING SOCIETY.
The usual fortightly debate under the auspices of the Te Kuiti Debating Society was held in the Municipal Hall on Thursday evening. Major 1 Lusk presided, and there was a good attendance of members and of the public. The subject for debate was "Disarmament," the Rev. Mr Griffiths taking the affirmative, while Mr E. Martin took the negative. A highly interesting debate ensued, the subject being well handled by both principal 3 and supporters. On the vote being taken at the conclusion the majority was against the disarmament of the nations. Next Thursday evening the usual sitting of Parliament will be held, when the Government's Native Land Bill will be introduced by the Prime Minister. There will probably be some highly interesting features attached to the native legislation of the Howarth Government. Several meui ber3 of the Cabinet possess a Bpecial knowledge of the subject, and a more than ordinary acquaintance with the taxation question, therefore interesting developments are anticipated.
