Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report as follows: — MATAMATA STOCK SALE. , We held our usual sale in the above yards on : Wednesday, the 18th inst., when we yarded 332 head of cattle, 324 sheep, and 25 pigs, also horses, implements, furniture, etc. There was a good demand for all classes of stock, and most of the lines offered changed hands. We quote:—Fat wethers 19s to 21s 6d, ewe 3 in lamb 15s 6d, fat cows £5 19s to £7 6s, forward empty cows £4 3s to £5 6s, store cows £2 3s to £?> Is, bulls £3 5s to £5, 18 month steers £3 7s, 18 month empty heifers £3 2s to £3 15s, 3 and 4 year store bullocks £6 2s to £6 12s 6d, heifers in calf £5 17s 6d to £6 ss, springers £4 10s to £7 10s, calves £1 a!7s to £2, porkers £2 Bs, slips £1 3s, weaners 6s to 9s, sundries St "full market rates. WESTFIELD FAT STOCK SALES. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency renort—At Westfield Yard on Wednesday fat cattle were yarded in larger numbers than usual. Prices Were easier than the previous week andthe quality was excellent through out, best oxen selling to 34s per 1001b others 31s to 335; cows and heifers, 23s to 39s per 1001b.; steer 3 sold at from £6 10s to £l7 17s 6d; cows and heifers.- £4 to £8 17s 6d. A draft of 11 steers from Mr Jno. Harris, Waiuku, averaged £l6 6s. Veal pens were well filled, and sjld well, heavy vealers selling to £4 18s, medium weights £3 10s to £4s, others £2 10s to £3 ss, lighter 20s to£2 ss, smallerfand fresh dropped 3s toUBs. Sheep came forward in large^numbers, and showed no improvement tin price. Best wethers sold at from' 1 26s to 283 6d others 21s to 25s 9d; unfinished we'thers. 14s 6d to 18s 9d, heavy ewes aold at 265, others 20s to 245; inferior fatted, 12s 6d to 18s. Lambs were yarded in average supply, and sold at late rates. Best quality sold to 20s 9d others 12a to 17s, inferior fatted Bs'to l'os 6d. Pigs were penned m ahort quantities, and again sold at baconers selling to ±1 IU9, porHf £2 103 to £3 15s, slips 25s to 30s. No weaners yarded.
