TARANAKI LAND BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. Tbe usual meeting of the Taranaki Land Board was held on Thursday. The Commissioner of Crown Lands, Mr G. H. Bullard, presided, and other members present were Messrs J. Heslop and W. Rattenbury. APPLICATIONS FOR LAND. H. Collins, section 1, block 1, Mahoe. —A pproved. The application of E. E. Bennett for additional land adjoining section 7, block 2, Aria, was approved subject to a satisfactory report from the ranger. TRANSFERS. J. Potter to J. and G. Potter, section 2, block 6, Heao. —Approved. H. Russell to Clara Smith, section 4, block 2, Aria —The applicant attended the meeting, and Mr J. C. Nicholson also appeared in support. Mr Russell gave his returns from the land, and considered that the land was more suitable for sheep.—The board agreed.to the transfer on the ground that Mrs Smith had a large family of eons of working age, as told by Mr Russell, and that the land was not particularly suitable as a dairy farm.

J. P. Kenny to H. Russell, section 9, block 11, Aria.—Approved. Hugh Bryson to W. G. Wilson, section 2, block 3, jMahoe.—The transfer was approved, provided proof wag given that the required improvements had been effected, and other necessary requirements complied with. E.L. Dons to H. C. Loveday, section 5, block 9, Obura.—Approved. K. W. Frank to D. Yandle, section 8, block 6, Ngatimaru.—Approved. G.H.Thomas to C. W. Stapleton, section 73, block 10, Pouatu. Approved subject to certain satisfactory evidence being forthcoming. W. Miskelly to 0. F. Gernhoefer, section 57, block 13, Ohura, Approved. Messrs Wilson and Anderson, Rutherford and Co. were present with Mrs McPhee, and urged that the forfeiture of section 8, block 15, Upper Waitara, be rescinded, and the transfer to Mrs McPhee approved.—After fully considering Mrs McPhee's exceptional circumstances, it was resolved to permit her to register the transfer, after the improvements had been brought up to the requirements, and before May Ist, 1914.

McKinley and Williams to W. E. Porter, scetion 9, block 10, Ohura.' — Approved. C. F. Dassler to H. Hirst, section 14, block 9, Mapara.—Provisional consent given, to be confirmed if improvements were brought up to requirements in twelve months.

J. Longden to Emma Longden, section 7, block 1, Tangitu.—Approved. A. Mclntyre to W. A. Thornton, section 1, block 2, Totoro.—Approved.

A. H. Ellicott to A. J. Williamß, section 1, block 3, Tangitu. Approved. W. H. Sadler to W. Moles, sections 18 and 19, block 2, Ngatimaru.—The transferee attended and explained his position, upon which the board agreed to the transfer.

L. R. Davies to P. Roberts arid W. I. James, section 10, block 13, Wsro. —Approved. W. Graham to C. McQuinn, section 6, block 2, Mahoe.—Approved. J. S. Harrison to J. Robertson and W. Johnston, section 85, Spotswoofl. — Mr Robertson attended the meeting, and the transfer was agreed to. Mrs Alice Gilmour to H. Stocker, section 583, New Plymouth, educational lease. —Approved. Foreman and Bright to W. Bright, section 6, block 1, Pouatu. Approved. SUB-LEASES. Applications to sub-lease were received and dealt with as below —W. 8., D. M., and J. M. Smith to D. M. Smith, junr., and M. J. Symes, sections 15, 16, 17, block 4, Omona and section 8, block 1, Taurakawa. —Postponed for further partisulars as to the transferee's present holdings. R. Mapp to W. G. Tucker, section 38, block 16, Egrr.ont.—Approved. S. Medcalf to G. S. Hobbs, 101 acres of Education Reserve lease of part section 107, block 2, Ngaere. Provisional consent given subject to the receipt of all necessary documents. C. Morris to G, D. and L. B. Parsons, section 57, block 10, Kaukoponui.—Resolved that the consent be given subject to the right of purchase being exeicised only with the board's consent. MISCELLANEOUS. A subdivision and transfer of s.ubsectionn 9, 10, 11, and 12, of section 72, block 14, Pouatu, from D. R. Hight to Newton W. King was approved. C. Shaw applied for the issue of a new lease of section 8, block 11, Cape, the original lease having been lost. — Provided a satisfactory declaration is received and £1 Is paid a new lease will be given. R. Roth applied to have the valuation of section 14, block 16, Ohura, reduced from £5 to £2 10s per acre, but the board declined to reduce. Notice of default and liability to forfeiture was issued in the case of D. H. Stevens, section 1, block 8, Ohura, on account of non compliance with residential qualifications. E. W. A. Hughes was granted six months' time to reside on section 5, block 2, Heao. Meyenberg Bros, applied for the milling rights over section 13, block I, Piopiotea West, but the board resolved that the timber be appraised, and offered at auction. I

It was decided to offer section 6, block 1, Tangitu, 131 acres, for selection at £3 per acre, block 9, Ngatimaru, 62£ acres, at £3 15s per acre. The following educational reserves were classified as second-class land: Section 7, block 15, Opaku; section 9, block 8, Opaku; section 3, block 3, Mahoe; section 1, block 9, Mshoe: and section 6, block 16, Upper Waitara.

The meeting certified to the issuing of Crown grants, under the Land Laws Amendment Act of 1912, to the following: —T. E. Brash, section 33, block 15, Aria; M. T. and C. E. West, section 13, block 9, Totoro; E. M. Lysaght. section 18, block 3, Opunake. Leases and licenses go the following selectors were issued, subject to the usual requirements: —W. H.
