CAMBRIDGE SHOW.
RECORD ENTRIES. SALE OF GIFT CALVES. The tenth annual show in connection with the Waikato Central A. and P. Association, was held on Thursday and Friday. There was a record number of entries, and the show was a success in every respect. A highly successful feature of this year's show has been the sale by auction of a number of gift calves. At the suggestion of Mr Norman Banks, the association offered £2B in prizes for competition between calves, which were to remain the property of the association. The entries totalled 120, but only 48 of them were penned, the balance being accounted for by cash donations. The 48 realised a sum of £145 2s 9d, while the cash donations brought the total up to £272 12s 9d. The first submitted, a Holstein cross heifer, bred by Mr J. W. Garland, realised 6Jgns, being bought by Mr W. G. Park, who generously returned the annimal to the association. Mr C. C. Buckland bought the same calf for 7gns, likewise returning it. Mr J. Taylor paid 6|gns when the calf was again put up, the original owner becoming the purchaser for 6gns. A steer calf was bought by Mr Jno. Fisher for 3£gns, and re-sold to Mr W.
