CHAMBER OF COMMEERCE.
ANNUAL MEETING. Attention is drawn to th 9 fact that the annual g<merai meeting of the Te Kuifci Chamber of Goromerce is to be held on Monday evening next at the County office. The Chamber of Commerce haa always playad an important part in public affairs at Te Kuiti. In the early days before the borough was established, the Chamber of Commerce was the recognised body for conducting many of the movements upon which the progress of a new centre largely depends. In fact from that body emanated the movement for the constitution of a borough, and a committee appointed by the Chamber took the first steps towards establishing a constitutional local authority at Te Kuiti. Since the setting up of the borough the activities of the Chamber of Commerce have been restricted to the more legitimate objects of such bodies, but the Chamber has continued to work actively for the benefit of the ' town and district. There is still much to be done, and it is to be hoped the interest and support necessary to inspire the officials with the enthusiasm to carry on their work for the public good will be evinced on Monday evening. A strong attendance of the public is earnestly desired.
