RAILWAY ARRANGEMENTS. Arrangements have been made by the Railway Department for the through booking of New Zealand grown fruit by rail to or from any Btation where there is a Btationmaster in charge to any station (either officered or flag) in the Government railways sytem, to come into operation on January Ist, 1913. The following particulars will convey an Idea of the arrangement, which should prove an appreciable facility to the general public Freight and other charges must in all cases be prepaid; and will be computed separately for each rail and sea journey as follows: For each rail journey—Not exceeding 561b, 6d; over 561b but not exceeding 1121b, Is; for every additional 561b or fraction thereof, 6d. each sea journey—One-seventh of a penny per lb with a minimum of 6d per consignment. For each' 1 transhipment from one steamer to another, one twenty eighth of a penny per lb, with a minimum of 3d per consignment. Wharfage will be payable at the ordinary wharfage rates for fruit ruling at the various ports, minimum charge per consignment 3d, cartage between Wellington wharf and Thorndon or Lambton railway stations 3d per case. Delivery from Wellington wharf to Wellington city and suburbs (excluding Mornington and Melrose) will be: quarter case 3d, half - case *4d, full case 6d. A charge of 3d per cwt. or part of a cwt. will be made upon all fruit consigned to Auckland, Wellington, Te Aro, Christchurch, Dunedin, and Invercargill railway stations; in all other case* consignees will require to take delivery at railway stations. Persons desirous of ordering fruit and availing themselves of this arrangements can obtain coupons from the Postal Department for transmission to the fruitgrower, and pay the officer in charge .of the post office the full amount required to cover the price of the fruit and the freight charges from the original station to final estination station.
