BRITAIN AND AUSTRALIA. BROOKES' BRILLIANT FORM. Received January 17, 10.55 p.m. By Telegraph— Press Association. —OopyrigW Sydney, Friday. The tennis test match between the British Isle's and Australia opened in dull, muggy weather. The courts were fast, a feature of the contest being the brilliant display of Brookes, who beat Dixon two love S6ts the first lasting eleven minutes, and the second nine. Dixon played a plucky, uphill game, but Brookes waß unplayable. He sent down severe serves which Dixon either failed to reach or mishit. His vpower of anticipating his opponent's shot and concealing his own nitention was shown to perfection. Again and again he sent back a shot when it seemed impossible to reach the ball. Brooked himself declared it was the best game of his life. , Beamish beat Dunlop 6—2, 6—l. Jones beat LuWe Parke beat Heat 3—6, 6—4. Brookes beat Dixon 6 —o, 6—o. j Heath and Jones beat Parke and Lowe—46—, 6—4, 12—10. Brookes and Dunlop beat Beamish and Dixon 6—o, 6—3.
