THE SLAUGHTERMEN'S TROUBLE.
EMPLOYERS' CONFERENCE. OFFER TO MEN. ; [BY TELEGRAPH. —PBKSS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, This Day. A conference was held last evening of meat freezing export companies to consider the slaughtermen's position, Sir Geo. Clifford presided, and all the companies except Neslon were represented. The conference was conducted privately, and the following communication was conveyed to the secretary of the Slaughtermen's Federation : "That the offer 'of 27s 6d per 300 (plus other modifications or concessions contained in offer "as to South Island conditions) be once more finally offered to the men. A reply to this offer now made by conference is required within seven days from January 17th." , Notice to cease work has been served upon all sheds in the Wellington industrial districts yesterday. The notices take effect on January 31st.
