The Editor. Sir,—ln your issue of 11th i.nst., I notice another of those ridiculous letters from Paemako, which we are becoming user! to, . However, it has proved that the truth has again gone home In this letter Cr O'Dwyer wants to know if I am referring to him personally when I mentioned that I understood tbat certain money was being misappropriated. To this I would reply that nobody was further from my thoughts, but that if the cap fits, wear it by all meana, although I would not have given him credit for having sufficient influence. Regarding his reference to previous correspondence: Last year I criticised the council's balance-sheet. I expected no reply, and was only keeping those things green ,in the eyes of the ratepayers pending another election, and if there ia no improvement I will pro bably do so again thi3 year. Cr O'Dwyer has stated that oh this, occasion there was nothing to reply to, but if he had stated that it was inconvenient to reply he would have been nearer the mark. On this previous occasion I stated that the council had notified all owners of dogs that the tax would be 2s 6d for sheep and cattle dogs up to the end of March, and after that date on to January of the following year, the rate would be doubled. I also stated that quite a number of owners of dogs, seeing the above advertisement, paid upat once, others, myself included, not seeing this advertisement, paid double, viz., ss, and quite a number never paid, and v were never asked to pay. Now, Iwill challenge Cr O'Dwyer to dispute that they were quite a number of owners of dogs who never paid dog tax, and were never asked to pay in the year 1911 to 1912. I will .go further, I will donate £5 to the Pio Pio Medical Fund if he can disprove the above. I will not take up any more of your space, Mr Editor, further than to stats that as far as Cr O'Dwyer is concerned, these remarks . are final. If I have, to fight, the fight will be with the Waitomo Council, and if they prove me in the wrong they will. find me "sport" enough to take a beating.—l am, etc ■ u ' ■ , R. LIVINGSTON.
