The Congress of the Australasia Aspociation for the Advancement of Science has opened at the Univeristy. There are 560 delegates attending. The sectional committees have been appointed. Professor Kirk, Wellington, was chosen president of the biology section; T. Mackenzie,' Wellington, geography and history; Dr Valintine, Wellington, sanitary science and hygiene. In the afternoon, Professor David, president-elect, gave a reception tea. In the evening the professor delivered a presidential address to a large and critical gathering at Wilson Hall. .
