AN-EYE-SORE.
The Editor.
Sir,—Would" you kindly allow me space to draw the attention, of our Civic Fathers to what must have been an eye-Bore to all enterprising And progressive residents—l refer to Mthe block of ."buildings" recently destroyed by fire opposite the JJmon Bank. 1 would also like to know whether there is a clause in our building by-laws which -will compel anyone contemplating build s .ng business premises in the same locality to do so in a somewhat up-to-date style, or, at least, prevent the aggregation of old leans-tp or small huts, in such a public position. If not, the sooner such a clause is inserted the better it will be for the appearance of our main streets. Verily, a coat "of paint doth bide a multitude of imperfections. While on this subject I would ask why the otfrier has not been compelled to remove the debris from the fire, which at present" blocks one of our busiest side footpaths?—l am, etc., V RESIDENT.
