King Country Chronicle WEDNESDAY, AUG. 21, 1912 A RECREATION GROUND.
Some time ago a committee was set up at Te Kuili to act in conjunction with the Borough Council in endeav-
ouring to procure a suitable recreation ground for the town. l.Jp to the present nothing further has boon heard of the matter, and there does not seem any enthusiastic desire on the part of the committeo to take tho initiative. It is to be hoped (sincerely that those who havo been elected to attend to the matter will bu awakened to the importance of tho occasion. If the town is not going to grow any more there will be little harm done by neglecting the matter. If as many far-sighted people think, l.he town id merely in its infancy, and in destined to spread the length of tho valley, from Waiteti to Te Kumi, tho need
for a proper recreation ground is urgent. The present domain is entirely inadequate for recreation purposes and there is no incentive to do further worlc on it, or to improve the general conditions. The suggestion (hat the domain should ho subdivided jjito building flections and sold, and the money thus derived, devoted to the purchaao of a ground sufficiently large to suit the growing requirements of the town, is worthy of every consideration. Grounds are to be obtained, and the sooner action is taken in the matter, the sooner will the thanks of the public be duo to those to whom the matter was entrusted.
