Mrs Prouse, o£ Wanganui, and Mrs Jordan, wife of the Mayor of Tauranga, were crossing the road when a car driven by Garnet Campbell, knocked them down. Mrs Prouso was run over and killed. Mrs Jordan was thrown aside and sustained a broken arm, three broken ribs, and a cut on the head. Mrs Jordan was conveyed to the hospital, where she lies in a serious condition.
