. » - Own Correspondent. On the 28th inst, the Marokopa Discussing Society held its first public meeting in the hall, which was decorated with a cosy tapestry screen and fixed up wish some comfortable forms provided by members. Mr T. Johnson, president, made a fine introductory speech, which was followed by papers and addresse3 given by members. There was a good attendance. A number uf questions were asked and replied to during the evening. At 9 p.m. the meeting broke up, and the secretary, Mr Bell, arranged with members for the nex,t "meet," which will take place at an early date. The society is educational, unsectarian, and humanitarian. The entrance fee is 2s 6d. A box for a hospital fund is nailed to the door, and any person so desiring may drop in a coin. It is a mutual help society, which will, so it is hoped, provide a cheap practical schooling in the art of speaking.
