at Mangatoki on account of Mr C. J. Lux ton, junr., when there was a large ; attendance of the public. Competition was keen and the stock being in | good demand sold as fol! nvs —Cows at profit and close up £8 to £ls ss, ' later £5 to £7 15s, empty £3 10s to £5, heifers springing £5 173 fid to £8 10s, empty £4 10s to £4 15s, Shorthorn bull £6 os, Jersey £7, light : draught horses £l7 to £22, bacon pigs 365, waggon £l6, gig £l7 ss, sundries sold at usual rates.

At Stratford springing heifer sale I on 26th inst., there was a fair yarding of dairy cattle which were disposed of at the following rates: Springing heifers £4 12a 6d to £3 12s ; 6d, do. Jersey £9, heifers calved £4 . 10s to £9 ss, dairy cows close up ! £6 to £9, do. calved £8 to £Bl ss. On the same day I held my usual fortnightly sale at Rahotu when there was a good yarding of al! classes, which sold at: Mixed yearlings 35s to 48s, yearling steers 38s to 50s, yearling heifers 35s to 50s, empty heifers £3 15s to £3 19s (id, 2 year steers £3 3s, springing heifers £4 8s to £6 7s 6d, store cows £2 10s to £3 12s 6d, forward cow £3 17s to £4 18s, springing cows £4 10s to £7 Is, bull 3os to 48?, Holstein bull, sola on account of Mr R. Morrow, realised £23. On 27th inst., at N. J. Hamblyn's clearing sale at Beaconsfield road, there was a good attendance, and the cows which were mostly Holstein-Jer-sey, were keenly competed for. The three pedigree Jerseys sold as follows after some very keen bidding:—Bull "Clovis" 28J gs, cow "Nelly's Darling" 26'igns., heifer "Bella's Lady" 38ngs., cows at profit and close up £8 5s to £l4 ss, later £5 to £7 ss, springing heifers £6 10s to £ll 10s, trap horses from £25 10s to £33, calves from 2s 6d to 16s, porkers 21s to 255, sow 27s 6d, gig £ls, dray £5 10s, Jack £4, discs £7 12s 6d, plough £5 ss, chafl'eutter £3 2s (3d, sundries sold well.

The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Co., report:— At Waihou yards on September 22nd, we had a yarding of 866 head of cattle, 143 fat sheep, 144 pigs. There was a good demand for all classes of stock, and practically a clearance. Fat short wethers 14s to 17s, woolly wethers 24s 6d, ewes 235, light weight fat steers £8 10s to £lO, fat cows £5 15s to £8 10s, barely killable cows £4 15s to £5 10s, fresh 2A to 3 year steers £5 18s to £6 15s, nice quality 2 and 2£ year steers £4 17s Gd to £5 ss, 2 year steers £4 7s 6d to £4 12 6d, 18 month steers £3 12s 6d to £3 17s fid, good yearling steers £2 15s to £3 •3s, mixed yearlings £2 10s to £2 17s 6d,' smaller sorts 40s to 455, 2 year empty heifers £3 153 to £4 ss, dairy heifers forward in calf £6 to £9, more backward sorts £5 to £5 15s. At Tirau on September 25th, we had an entry of 1460 sheep and 424 head of cattle, and a good list of sundries and pigs. Fat ewes 15s to 18s, fat wethers ]9s, well-woolled ewe hoggets 15s 9d, mixed hoggets in wool 13s 6d to 16s the latter practically killable, wether hoggets 13s 9d, small hoggets 9s 6d to lis 6cl, fat steers £9 15s to £ll 10s. forward steers £8 10s, fat cows £7 to £7 10s, 2Jyear store steers £5 5s to £5 10s, store 3 year steers £5 13s, 3 year steers in good store condition £6 173, store cows £3 153 to £4, good yearlings £2 15s to £3, smaller sorts £2 7s Pd to £2 12s 6d, best dairy cows £7 to £lO, best heifers £6 7s 6d to £6 15s, others £5 10s to £6. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report:—

On 26th Setember we had a fair yarding of cattle and a few sheep at our sale at Ohaupo. Among the cattle were some choice Jersey and Hoistein cross heifers which, however, did not sell on account of it being too early in the season. Two and three year bullocks sold readily under the hammer, for which there was keen competition. Hoggets were dull of sale. Quotations —Cull hoggets lis 6d, 3 year hullocks £6 16s, 2 year bullocks £4 14s.

At Otorohanga on 27th September we had a fair yarding of sheep and cattle, all of which sold readily under the hammer, and we had a full clearance of everything except one small pen of cow and calves. Quotations —■ 4 and 6 tooth store wethers 17s 5d to 17s 7d, mixed 2 tooth ewes and wethers 12s 4d, yearling steers £3 3s to £3 6s, yearling heifers £2 15s to £3 Gs, springing heifers £5 12s fid to £6 17s 6d.

On 28th September we held our usual tri-weekiy fat stock sale at Hamilton, when we offered a fair* yarding of fat sheep and beef, also pigs and dairy cattle. Competition for both beef and mutton was very brisk and nearly all the lines sold readily under the hammer. The dairy cattle were somewhat dull of sale and the demand was not as good as recent sales. Quotations —Fat wethers 24s 6d, fat ewes 19s, fat hoggets 15s 6d to 21s lid. fat bullocks £lO 5s to £l2 ss, fat cows £5 14s to £7 ss, veal calf 30s 6d, yearling empty heifers £2 15s to £2 ]?s (3d, 18 month heifers £3 12s to £3 17s 6d, yearling steera £2 18s, mixed yearlings, small 375, springing heifers £7 17s to £B., springing heifers, backward £6 l(!s to £6 17s 6d, milch cows £7 to £B, porkers 25s 6d to 29s 3d, store pigs 18s to 21s 6d, slips 13s 9d to 15s 6d, weaners 8s 6d to 14s.
