MOKAUITI SPORTS.

Favoured with line weather the above sports gathering was held at Aria en Thursday. The attendance wa-i nut ao large as usual, owing, no doubt, to the fact that the Okura show was liehl on the day preceding, thereby preventing the. settlers from attending both gatherings. Nevertheless the various events were well contested, close iiniahea occurring in the two sprint races. The fields were large and the starts were got oil' well up to tiir.e. The secretary (.Mr F. O'Sullivan) and an energetic committee, were busy all day seeing that the day's proceedings were not going to be marred in any way through fault of theirs, and the result should be very gratifying to all concerned. There was only one protest during the day, F. Coles, who ran second to Hogg, in the 'J-ii yards handicap, averring that he had been jostled by the winner. The protest was not upheld. The medal for the winner of most points in the running events was won by Coles. Following are the results:— inn Yards Handicap.—-Hogg 1, Coles .., liosent'eklt ;>. Maiden Chop.
