Copyright Received November 15, 10.50 p.m. London, Yesterday, Mr Asquitb's expected statement in the House of Commons to-day has been I postponed until Wednesday. The Government are abandoning j their Bills in both Houses, including I the Budget. It is expected that the j writs will be issued on the 28th No- | vember, enabling the large towns to vote before December Sth, and the '■ majority of the rural districts by DeJ cembre 17th, thus doing the least | harm to Christmas shopping, j The London and Suburban Traders' i Federation has petitioned Mr Asquith j to postpone the elections until after ! Christmas, j The "Times" says the decision to j keep the Veto Conference a secret is | due to the desire to keep the method | alive. ! It is believed a disclosure of the deliberations would prejudice any furI tber conference, Both Unionist and Liberal delegates are equally resolute on this point.
