Borough Water Supply.
To the Editor, gir,—l notice Cr Hardy takes exception to my idea of working an artesian water supply for the borough of Te Kuiti. To" strengthen his case he raises all sorts of objections, and if they are not sufficient, says, No doubt Mr Spenser, the borough engineer, will be able to convince him ox the futility of his proposed scheme. (By the way, when was Mr Spenser appointed Borough enginee?r) Mr Hardy's knowledge of artesian wells seems to me to be peculiar". Does he mean to say the water from an artesian well in this valley, will rise Dy its own force to the top of say one of the heights above the hop gardens, or Mr Boddie's dwelling on the other side of the valley? If Mr Hardy thinks as above, I have reason to feel pleased that he is coming round to my way of thinking. If he continues on in that line, he will soon be one of the warmest supporters of my proposed scheme, the simplicity of which I can quite understand does not appeal to the average engineer.—l am '
