KING COUNTRY RIFLE ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of the management council of the above association was held in Mr Eiche's sample rooms, Taurnarunui. on Wednesday evening last to prepare the programme for the first meeting t:> be held on the Manunui range on Wednesday and Thursday, December 28th and 29th, 1910. The secretary reported that several of the vice-presidents had replied accepting office, and enclosed their subscriptions and some of the business people had promised trophies.

The following programme was drafted: —

No. 1 Match, "Te Kuiti," 7 shots at 200 and 500yds.—£10 in 1(5 prize?, one at £2, one at £1 10s. one at 10s, two at 15s, five at 10s, six at 5s the last four for tyros; entrance, 3s (id. No. 2 Match, "The Kio Kio," 7 shots at 500 and (500 yds- £lO in 1(5 prizes as No. 1 Match; entrance, 3s (id. No. 3 Match, "The Ohura." 7 shots at 200, 500 and (500yds.-—£l2 in IS prizes, one at X2 ss, one at £1 15. one at £1 ss. one at £l. two at los, five at 10s, and seven at 5s —lost five for tyros. ; entrance 4s. No. 4 Match, "The Kakahi." 7 shots at 200 and (s(.)oyds—£lo in 1(5 prizes same as in No. 1 ; entrance Us 6d. No. 5, "The Taumarunui," 7 shots at 800, 000 and 1000 yds. £l2 in 18 prizes "same as No. 3; entrance fee 4s.

No. 6, "The Otorohanga," 7 shots at 500 and 700yds.—£10 in 16 prizes, same as No. 1; entrance, -5s (id. Trophy presented by the Otorohanga Trading Company. No. 7. "The Ohakune," 7 shots at 600 and SOOyds.—£lo in 16 prizes same as No. 1; entrance, os 6d. No. S, "The vVairnarino," 7 shots at 500 yds, service conditions; entrance, 2s 6d; entry compulsory. —£10 in 16 prizes, same as No. 1. Champion Aggregate. Highest scores in Matches 2. '•>, 5 and 6, —'.£5 in four prizes, one at £2 and trophy, one at £1 10s, one at £l, one at 10s. Champion Teams Match. 7 shots at 200, 500 and 600 yds, open to teams of five men. Territorials, Rifle Clubs and Civilians; entrance £1 per team. — Prizes, trophy, sweepstake of entrance fees to be allocated by council; trophy only to be won by a team within the association's boundary (King Country boundaries, with the Northern boundary extended to Frankton ;) trophy to be held for 12 months. Cadet Match, 7 shots at 200 yds—- , Cadet rifles.—Prizes, trophies and cash prizes will be allocated by council according to entries, for School Cadets under 16 years. Rules for the guidance of competitors and conduct of the meeting were also drawn up.

The meeting will start each day at 8 o'clock sharp, and matches are open to all-comers. Member's fee 5s for all competitors who do not belong to any affiliated club or corps ; affiliation fee Is; one optional sighting shot at each range; the meeting will be conducted under the N.Z.D.F.R.A. rules; challenge shots Is. Ammunition may be obtained on the ground at 12s 6d per 100 rounds; All matches will be fired on a time limit; Territorials must fire in the uniform of their corp and members of Rifle Clubs as per regulations The prize-list is based on an entry of 60 and the council reserve the right to decrease the prize-list pro rata, should the competitors not reach that number; all entries close (except Teams Match) with the secretary (Mr G. A. Stanton), Taumaiunui, on Saturday, December 17th, 1910. at 8 p.m.; entries for Teams' Match must be left with the secretary not later than 4 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28th, 1910; all late entries received'on the ground will be charged one shilling extra, this rule will be strictly enfored. Railway passes can be obtained through the officers ing corps and rifle clubs, on application to the Defence Office. Arrangements will be made for light refreshments on the ground. Prize monies will be [laid out immediately after the meeting as soon as the lists are compiled. The council will appoint range officers who will have control at the firing points and any protest will be decided by the council, whose decision will be final and without appeal.

The telephone will be installed and every provision will be made to secure the smooth .working of the "shoot," and the convenience of the competitors on the ground. Intending competitors will be well advised to secure accommodation early.
