WESTFIELD FAT STOCK MARKET. ' , Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd.. Auckland, report having held their usual weekly fat stock sale at Wesfcfield saleyards on Wednesday, March. 30th, as under: —Beef —An average yarding. Prices were lower than the previous week and -a number were bought for freezing purposes. Prime ox beef sold at up to 20s per lOOlbs for light weights of choice quality, average weights ruling at 19s to 19s 6d per lOOlbs. Cow and heifer beef sold at 16s to 17s per lOOlbs. Vealers sold at late rates. Mutton—An average yarding. Prices were on a par with late rates. Prime heavy wethers fetched up to 16s 9d, medium weights 14s to 15s, heavy ewes up to 14s 6d, medium weights 10s 6d to 12s. Lamb —A medium yarding. Prime heavy woolly fetched up to 13s 6d, heavy shorn to lis 6d, medium woolly 9s 6d to lis. Pigs—Pork sold at rather better prices than have been ruling at previous sales. Light porkers fetched up Thursday, March 31st, we yarded and sold at * late rates dairy cows and heifers. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having held their usual monthly sale at Ngaruawahia on April Ist, when they had a fair yarding of sheep and a good yarding of cattle. On account of contra attractions the attendance was not-up to expectations and bidding was slow. They however, had a good clearance afterwards and quote as follows:—4 and 6 tooth wethers 14s 6d, 2-tooth forward wethers lis 3d, shorn lambs 5s to 5s Bd, aged ewes 6s 9d, fat cows £4 10s, 2-year steers £3 10s, 18-month steers £2 15s to £2 17s 6d, heifers in calf £3 10s, cows £1 7s to £1 9s, springing heifers £4 to £5 Is. New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report : On Saturday, 2nd inst., we held our usual monthly sale at Te Awamutu, when a full yarding of well-bred cattle came forward and mostly sold under good competition. Fat and forward cows made £4 9s to £4 15s, 20-month to two-year old steers £3 10s,- 15month steers £2 10s. 18-month empty heifers £2 3s to £2 7s, store cows £2 10s. to £2 17s 6d, dairy cows up to £7 ss, calves, mixed sexes £1 4s to £1 7s, smaller sorts 14s 6d to £1 Is, heifers, HoHtein cross £1 9s, weaner pigs 8-) to 10s, slips 14s 6d. At the clearing sale on account of Messrs Martin Bros, on the same day at Te Kowhai there was a large attendance. The stock were well bred and in good condition and the bidding was brisk throughout, good prices being realised. Dairy cows made from £5 10s to £6 17s 6d, .calves and yearlings mixed £2 4s, 2J-year old heifers in calf £3 16s to £4 14s, 2 colts 2-year old£ 21 to £22, 3 yearling fillies £l6 10s each, other yearlings £lO 10s to £ls, draught mare and foal £25, draught mare and geldings £25 and £26, hack £l9, buggy mare £lB, sows and litters £3 17s 6d and £4 15s. porkers £1 4s to £1 Bs,. slips 15s to 16s 6d, boar £1 7s, f.m. ewes 9s, implements, tools, etc., at usual rates. The Farmers' Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report; — At Matiere on Tuesday, 29th inst, we yarded 760 head of cattle and about 1700 sheep. There was a large attendance and brisk bidding throughout for the cattle but few buyers for sheep. The cattle yarded were a choice lot, about 200 bullocks in forward condition, 2052 and 2-J.-year steers, 100 yearlings and 18-months cattle, and the balance fat and forward cows and in calf heifers. Fat bullocks £6 19s to £7, forward condition 3 and 3_-year steers £5 6s to £5 16s, two-year steers £3 12s 6d to £4, 18 and 20-months £2 15s to £3 ss, 18-month and 2-year heifers in calf £4 4s to £4 9s, strong calves 32s 6d to - 345, others 225, fat cows and heifers £4 17s to £5 9s, forward cows £3 to £4. - Fresh fullmouth ewes 9s 9d to 10s, 4-th ewes lis 6d. At Hamilton on Thursday last, 31st March, we yarded 392 sheep, 300 head of cattle and 48 pigs, 60 head of beef yarded selling readily at advance rates, all being sold under the hammer. Fat steers £7 7s to £7 19s, smaller steers £5 8s to £6, fat cows and heifers £5 6s to £6 ss, lighter sorts £4 15s to £5 ss, 15 to 18-month heifers £2 10s to £3 ss, good calves 25s to 84s, others lis to 20s, springing cow £6. Fat wethers 14s 6d, forward wethers 12s 3d, fat ewes 9s 6d to 10s 6d. Pigs—Slips 14s 6d, weaners 4s to 7s.
