KING COUNTRY RIFLE ASSOCIATION.

A meeting for the purpose of forming a Rifle Association in the King Country was held in Gardiner's Hall, Taumarunui, on Wednesday evening, March 2.''rd. Representatives were, present from Ohakune, Kakahi, Kio Kio and Taumarunui Rilh ClubH. Letter-! of apology were rcooivcJJMßß the Waimarino Mounted Ohura Rifle Club for not being able to be represented, but wore in accord and support with the movement. MiBrown was voted to the chair, and Mr Stanton kindly acted as .secretary pro tern. After the chairman had explained the objects of the meeting, the project was discussed very fully by the representatives present. If; wan resolved that a Rifle Association be formed, to be called "The King County Rille Association," and that the headquarters be at Taumarunui, The affiliation fee was fixed at £1 Is, and the King Country boundaries were fixed as from south of Frankton to north of Taihape, and all corps and clubs in this area are eligible for affiliation. The following officers were elected : —Patrons, Messrs W. T. Jennings, M.P., and Lt.-Col. Wolfe; vicepatrons, Messrs C. J. Ryan, 11. Hunt, B. Irvine, A. D. Riches, E. Simons, ,1. Grant, M. Burke, Smith, Thorne, ])r Howard, Dr Latchmorc, Wackrow, W. Combes, Weir, Lowe, and all officers of territorials and presidents of Rifle Clubs south of Frankton and north of Taihape; executive council, to consint of a representative oC each affiliated corps or club; secretary, Mr Stanton, , Taumarunui; treasurer, Mr Oliver, Taumarunui; auditor, manager Bank of New Zealand, Taumarunui. It was decided to open an account in the Post Office Savings Bank for the present. The Executive Council was empowered to appoint a date for the annual "shoot," tho council to meet at a date to be fixed by the secretary when he is notified of the election of representatives by the affiliated corps and clubs. A vote of thanks to the chair and the secretary closed the meeting.
