Owing to very great pressurp on our space several important letters and other articles are held over until next issue. It id notified that the Hons. A. Baldey (Otago), W. C. F. Carncross (Taranaki), T. Thompson (Auckland), and F. Trask (Nelson), whose termß in the Legislative Council had expired, have been reappointed for another seven years. The other day a farmer in a very large way from the South Island told a roomful of gentlemen that he would throw open the lands in the Taumarunui district that 500 farmers would be there in less than six months. How much more would not this apply in 7/aitomo and Ohura counties? Large numbers of visiting natives are eitpecfced iq arrive at Otaki during the next few days, jn antipipatipp pf the re-opening of the Native' Mission church. The Hons. J. Carroll and Ngata, Dr Buck and Mr Field, M.'P., are expected to attend the opening ceremony. A painful accident occurred to Mr Collett, of the firm of Collett and Son, engineers, Taumarunui last week. Mr fe.oH.etJ; had been employed fitting up machinery at the sawmill at Ongarue, and a trial was bejng made when Mr .Collett slipped, with the result that his leg was broken above the ankle, fhe ijnfortunate man was brought down in fcfae trajn gpd removed to the hospital. An extra express train is being run between Auckland and Wellington during the Easter holidays. The express starts from Auckland at 10.45 a.m., reaching Wellington at 7.21 a.m. next day. The north bound extra train will leave Wellington at 8.55 p.m., -and arrive at Auckland at 4.40 p.m. nest d&y.
