HONIKIWI.
Own Correspondent. On Saturday nigbt oar monthly social was held. A beautiful moonlight night favoured the gathering which proved to he rather small, for which the shearing now going on is to he blamed. How* ever, those present enjoyed themselves till the midnight hour. Mr J. Linten and Mr W. Budden contributed a recitation each which met with merited applause. In the absence of Mr Kohi, Mr Harold Wee contributed the dance music. Mr G. B. Budden acted as MC. Much sympathy has been expressed with Mr Maurice McCrath near Kppua in the heavy loss he has sustained by the burning of his house (a new one) and practically all its contents which was unfortunately uninsured.
Shearing is quite the order of the day here at present and the clip from the whole district should be worth a good deal. Fine weather is rapidly improving the roads though it is to be hoped that the authorities will see their way clear to metal all those parts which were so bad during the past winter.
