COUNTY COUNCIL ELECTION.
Te Kuiti Riding The forthcoming eicetion for a Councillor for Te Kuiti riding in the Waitomo County Council, which promised to develop into an interesting triangular contest has been robbed of much of its interest in consequence of Mr Sims' inability to stand. Owing to an oversight Mr Sims' name appears on the defaulters' list for the riding, and this renders him ineligible to contest the seat. The circumstance is all the more vexatious from the fact that the property on which the rates are owing was sold by Mr Sims about eighteen months ago. The defection of Mr Sims leaves the issue between Mr Pine and Mr Boddie, unless some hitherto unannounced candidate comes into the field. As will be seen by advertisement in another column, nominations for the position will be received up to July 21st, and the election is fixed for July 28th. The ratepayers roll contains 111 names, but it is safe to conclude that of this number a considerable percentage will not exercise the right to vote. The defaulters list includes 35 names.
