TE KUITI COURTHOUSE.
SOME months ago it was definitely stated that the pyhjic buildings, projected for Te Kuiti, would l?e er.ecjed 111 a very short time, and that pians for tjhe saine were then being pre-
pared. Since that time no further information has been forthcoming on the subject, and we are now forced to the conclusion that either the information was premature, or that Government engineers require an inordinate time to complete a very small amount of work. In any case, it is to be hoped that steps will be taken to urge the erection of a Courthouse at the earliest possible moment. In singling out the Courthouse as a case of special urgency, Ave are actuated merely by motives of expediency. The post office and other buildings arc just as badly needed in one sense, but if a court is to be held at Te Kuiti in future, the matter of its location will be a difficult problem to solve. The building, which up to the present has done duty as a court, is to be turned to commercial uses, and the town will thus be devoid of any building, saving the church, with any pretensions to public use. It is fully recognised by the authorities that a Courthouse, as well as the other buildings mentioned, is urgently required, and steps should be taken to urge the completion of the work at the earliest possible moment-
