SOUTH BAY DOMAIN

CLAYING OF RACE TRACK COMPLETED. The contractor for the claying of the race track at South Bay Domain (Mr J. L. Thornton) completed the work on Alonday, and little remains to be done before the track is ready for use. With the completion of-this work a big improvement is noticeable in the set-out on the domain, and gives an idea'of the “shape of things to come.” At the last meeting of the Domain Board it was mentioned by the chairman (Ali- H. J. Hewson) that the Trotting Chib is anxious to erect rails round the track, but before this is carried out an endeavour will be made by the board to top-dress the internal area of the track. The county engineer (Air Af. Fennell) is to present an estimate of the cost of this work to the next meeting of the board.
