KAIKOURA GOLF CLUB
RESIGNATION OF PRESIDENT. As he will be leaving the district within a few days, Mr G. E. Berry tendered his resignation as president to a meeting of the executive committee of the Kaikoura Golf Club on Monday. In announcing this, Mr Berry said he would give a shield to be competed for annually between clubs in the area bounded by Kaikoura and Blenheim, and except for stipulating the clubs eligible to compete and that it be for teams of four, left the drawing up of the conditions to the Kaikoura Club. The club captain (Mr J. M. Reid) thanked Mr Berry for his generosity, and at the same time expressed the regret all members would have at the departure of Mr and Mrs Berry, and hoped that it would not be long before they were back. Mr Reid said Mr Berry had proved himself as president, and had put in a tremendous amount of work on the course. By his endeavours, the club was in a sound financial position and he had also introduced a number of players to the game. Best wishes *for their future were expressed by Mr Reid. Mr Berry thanked Mr Reid for his kind remarks, and said he was sure the club would go ahead if only by the efforts of its enthusiastic committee.
