TERM CHARWOMEN ON THE WAY OUT?
A London message states that British legislators arc beginning to grasp the fact that much turns on a name. Announcement has been in Parliament by Mr Edgar Granville, member lor an East Suffolk Division, that he will ask the Secretary of the Treasury it the latter will see to it that members of the Government’s Minor and Manipulative Trades Association of the Office of Cleaners are referred to as such, and not as charwomen or charladies. Mr Granville will present the view that the term charwomen or charladies does not give adequate indication of their status—moreover, it is resented.
