THE FIRST EXAMPLES OF THE NEW BRITISH “UTILITY” FURNITURE were shown to the trade at a London exhibition. Tables, chairs, sideboards and beds were seen, plywood being the material largely used in their construction. Simplicity, economy of materials and good design are the salient features of this furniture. All peacetime “trimmings” have been severely eliminated. A “utility” diningroom suite with a light oak finish.
