The monthly meeting of the County Council will take place to-morrow evening. For the first five months of this year the enemy has lost 2243 aeroplanes—--254 of these were lost in May. Entries for the Kaikoura Collie Dog Club’s trials close at 8 p.m. on Tuesday next. Evening services at St. Paul’s and St. Peter’s churches commence, at 6.30 p.m., instead of 7 p.m., during the winter months.

Advice has been received that Private Frank Garrett, who, after returning from overseas, contracted a serious illness, has now passed the critical stages and is improving in health. A farewell will be tendered to Suburban soldiers on leave, at the Suburban Hall, to-morrow night, under the auspices of the residents and Kowhai Tennis Club. All soldiers on leave and returned men. will be welcomed.
