Evening services at St. Paul’s and St. Peter’s churches commence, at 6.30 p.m., instead of 7 p.m., during the winter months.
Advice has been received that Private Frank Garrett, who, after returning from overseas, contracted a serious illness, has now passed the critical stages and is improving in health. A farewell will be tendered to Suburban soldiers on leave, at the Suburban Hall, to-morrow night, under the auspices of the residents and Kowhai Tennis Club. All soldiers on leave and returned men. will be welcomed. A Russian General, Killerniorloff, Was troubled for years with a terrible cough; The army blanched and shook at the knees Whenever they heard his appalling sneeze; They lost their sleep, and their tempers, too, (As, had you been there, I’m sure would you), But their joys increased, and their cares were fewer When he cabled for Woods’ Great Peppermint Cure. PARADE I The Home Guard and Mounted Rifles will parade through the West End on their way to see “40,000 Horsemen,’’ that epic story of the heroism of the New Zealand Mounted Rifles and the Australian Light Horse, showing at the Mayfair on Friday night.
