THE MAYFAIR THEATRE

‘ ‘ HEIDI OF THE ALPS. ’ ’ SATURDAY AND MONDAY. One of the most unusual sets ever built for a Darryl F. Zanuck production at 20th Century Fox studios was created for “Heidi of the Alps,” Shirley Temple’s new starring picture which opens at the Mayfair Theatre on Saturday night, when a quarter-acre pond was filled with oil for a novel scenic effect. The pieturisation of the famous story by Johanna Spyri, read and loved the' world over, includes a speciallywritten dream dance sequence featur-

ing Shirley and twenty-six other young dancers in a colourfully picturesque Dutch scene. The oil serves as the surface of the Zuyder Zee on a set reproducing the d.vkcs, islands, windmills and canals about this famous Netherland harbour, acting as a perfect reflecting medium. Every detail of the dance, which is done in wooden shoes, will be reflected in perfect perspective in the brilliant surface of oil, an interesting effect designed by Sammy Lee, dance stager. Composers Lew Pollock and Sidney D. Mitchell wrote a new song especially for this number, called “Tn Our Little Wooden Shoes.” ‘ ‘ GOOD MORNING, BOYS !’ ’ Anthony Kimmins’ story, “Good Morning, Boys!” will be the feature picture for to-night and to-morrow-night, with Will Hay, Martha Hunt, Peter Cawthorne, Graham Moffat, Fewlass TJewellvn. Afark Daly, Peter, Godfrey. Denver Warren, ad Utti Palmer fulfilling the various roles. Tt is a humorous story that will send you home happy for the week-end. The Afayfair Theatre was again crowded last night to witness the second screening of “Wings of the Aforning,” and patrons thoroughly enjoyed the picture.
