“SPEEDING UP!”

THE ARMAMENT RACE. LONDON, March 22. The Daily Mail says a great armament “speed-up” is foreshadowed in Sir Thomas Inkskip’s invitation to 36 shipbuilding and engineering unions, with a membershp of 500,000 throughout the country, to meet him o;o Thursday to discuss labour shortage problems. Tt is understood these include the introduction of labour from other industries, the training of unskilled and semi-skilled workers, and the relaxation of tho apprenticeship scheme. The Trades Union Congress will dismiss these and similar issues at a special meeting to-day.
