HELP FOR FARMERS

MORTGAGE ADJUSTMENT An important step was taken by the Manawatu executive of the Fanners ’ Union when arrangements wore made to provide special legal and accountancy advice for members who intend applying to the Adjustment Commission under the terms of the Mortgagors and Lessees Adjustment Act. The executive aims to give this service at minimum cost. It was pointed out that many farmers had not ikept booiks, and it would be extremely difficult for them to prepare a concrete case for adjustment. The papers to be filled in were involved. One member said he had heard that one solicitor had been asked to handle 200 applications, and another said he had received an application from a solicitor asking for the business.
