BRISBANE, December 5. The first, test match was commenced at Brisbane on Friday, England scoring 358 runs in the first innings—Leyland 126, Barnett 69, Ames 24. At the close of play on Saturday Australia had lost two wickets for 151 runs. KAIKOURA CLUB A match was played on Saturday between teams selected by Messrs W. McLennan and F. Hobbs, the former team winning by 31 runs. McLennan's team made 129 (O’Callaghan 48 reI tired, Peter 18, May 16, .T. A. Reid 15), i and Hobbs’ team 9S (Borthwick 50 not I out, Trcwin 13, Comer 27).
