WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
CHARWELL FORKS-LYNTON DOWNS BRANCH
The monthly meeting of the Charwell Forks-Lyn ton Downs branch of the Women’s Institute was hold on Thursday afternoon in the Lynton School, Airs J. E. Barker (president) presiding over a fair attendance. The motto was provided by A! rs J. McGregor. The roll call, ‘ Ideas for Christmas Gifts,” brought forth some interesting suggestions. The competition, “Guessing packets of kitchen condiments,” was supplied by Aliss Woodfield and was won by Mrs R. Hamilton, with Airs Archer (Christchurch) second. A number of articles
from the Disabled Soldiers’ Association made ready sale. The recreation for the afternoon was a number of friendly games of tennis, which were much enjoyed.
Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses—Mesdames I. McGregor and A. C. Scott, and Aliss G. McGregor. A pleasant afternoon closed in the usual
