The late Air Frank Hornby, inventor of Meccano, left estate valued at £231,536. A Maori, Mr Charlie Werohia, aged about 50 years, was gored to death by a Jersey bull on his farm at Wai mate North, about 6 o’clock on Sunday night (states the Auckland Star). He was driving milking cows through a paddock where the bull was kept, when the animal, which was not dehorned, rushed at him and inflicted extensive injuries to the head. The only eyewitness of the tragedy was a young grand-daughter, who called for help. Mr Godfrey Raneka., who was in a paddock some distance away, went to Air Werohia’s assistance, but arrived too late. It is understood that the bull was of a ferocious nature and had made previous attempts to attack people. It was later shot. Latest wages and time books are obtainable at the Star Office.
