HITLER’S MAIDENS

NEW UNIFORM TO BE DESIGNED BERLIN, October 26. Herr Hitler, fearing that the dowdy blue skirts and mustardcoloured blouses of the ‘ ‘ Hitler maidens ’ ’ would not attract husbands, asked a colleague’s wife to design a new uniform and ordered the issue of evening frocks for special occasions in addition to the national costume for folk dancing. The official organ of the Hitler Youth approves of this, but adds, “we hate the young lady with - a life of her own because we hate deceit. We hate the doll type which requires an exciting dress in order to attract attention.”
